The Privilege of Problem Solving

Isaiah 42:13 For I hold you by your right hand—
I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you. 14 Though you are a lowly worm, O Jacob, don’t be afraid, people of Israel, for I will help you.
I am the Lord, your Redeemer. I am the Holy One of Israel.’

Yesterday was a rough day for my business and I came home from work mentally exhausted. Every leader has days like that and it is during these times that our faith is tested. The verse above is an incredible encouragement that no matter how rough the day may get, we can have victory because the Lord has promised to help us. That night, in spite of my desire to shut everyone out and wallow in self-pity, I called my pastor and told him how I was feeling. His words of encouragement picked me up and I ended up having an enjoyable and productive night. Rather than wasting the whole night, I shifted the focus off of myself and was able to minister to others by doing pre-marriage ministry and encouraging a few men that I mentor. When I got home, I enjoyed a fun evening with my wife and kids. This morning, during my devotional I read the words of comfort from The LORD in Isaiah 42. Not only did the verses encourage me, but I also realized that yesterday’s problems are my responsibility and solving them is actually my privilege. As I began to work on the problems at hand, I realized that the Lord had placed these problems in front of me so that I could fix them and make the business better! The Lord really is my helper and I don’t need to be discouraged when problems arise because I know that He is with me through it all. Instead of allowing problems to discourage me, I will thank the Lord in all things and believe that He will help me!

Great words of insight and encouragement, I too, tend to pull away from the day once it is over and tackle the problems head on in the morning. This blog has shown me that a little prior thought and taking responsibility in that moment will go alot futher in preparing and dealing with whatever needs to be done to overcome the challenge.

Thank you D.
