Jeremiah 6:27 “Jeremiah, I have made you a tester of metals, that you may determine the quality of my people.
This passage of scripture references the people of Israel’s test to determine who they really served. They might have said the right things and performed the right rituals but their hearts served other gods and their lifestyle was trenched in selfish living and sin. The testing The LORD was about to unleash on the Israelites would truly determine who they were on the inside rather than what they appeared and acted on the outside.
The same is true in business. Too many professionals spend their entire life avoiding or loathing the testing process of business rather than embracing it and conquering it daily. If you are one who avoids at all cost the tests of business then your value is less than a person who has already been tested and refined.
Tests in your professional lives are why you have a job. If business did not have challenges and hurdles to overcome each business leader could be replaced with machines and robots. If what you do can be replaced by a machine, system, or robot then whatever the cost of that machine, robot, or system is the ultimate value of your position. However, if you are in a career that actually tests and challenges your thinking, creativity, people skills, problem solving then your value is determined by how you pass the “test”.
